Teston and Josephine Gilpatrick became part of a mission team going into Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1972.  Realizing that, as "second wave" teams, they would be going into a situation much different to what the first teams found, brother Gilpatrick felt the need to share their findings with the American church.  In brother Howard Norton's foreword, he said, "Reason told us that the second wave of younger missionaries would have different relationships with foreign Christians from the ones experienced by the first pioneers.  To my knowledge, however, no one in our brotherhood investigated the matter scientifically.  It is precisely here that Teston Giltpatrick makes his unique contribution to missionary literature of churches of Christ."
